Happy Spring

In my 30 plus years at the courthouse today is the first time we acutally had a snow day. It is pretty much impossible to go anywhere without a 4 wheel drive. I stood on the deck just to give you an idea of how deep the snow is. It is supposed to stop sometime tomorrow but there is rain forcasted for the weekend. That might prove to be a real mess.

What a smirk!

Good photography gramma Jeanne! Justin is almost 3 months old and I can't believe it. Jeanne left yesterday to head back home after two weeks of being here with Justin. We all miss her, but now gramma Barb is here to visit and take care of him until Aaron is off work for the summer. Hope everyone is well!!

Rodney Robert Moon was born

AKA Roddy Bob was born on this day in 1956. I remember getting the letter at the convent ( in Colorado Springs)saying I had a new baby brother! There was no technology back then for instant notification and people did not make long distance calls . The good old USPS was the way to communicate. That whole year I never talked to my family on telephone.

I remember being excited to have another brother!! I guess Mom and Dad always seemed happy to have another child so we all did too. I sure loved being a big sister to all of the little ones!!!

Life sure hands out some tough times so Thank God for all of the good ones!

All Smiles

Here are just a few pictures of Justin today before we took a big nap. We had a snow day, which was really nice. I've been waiting for this to happen because I had heard rumor of us getting a day off once in a while because of 'blizzard conditions'. Hope all is well with everyone!!

In Memory of Dad

Dad died on Easter Sunday , April 17, 1960. Many of you younger ones probably do not have much of a memory of that day. We were at Mass at the Blegian Colony Church. Because it was so full we never knew dad never even came in. When we went out he was sitting on the ground beside the car. leaning on the tire. As I recall either Roger or Mom drove home and Dad sat on the couch and toppled over to the right. Roger tried to massage his chest. It was before anything was known about CPR. I remember kids crying. We called the ambulance. I took you little kids over to Loret's place. Chris and John were on their way for Easter Dinner and called from Shelby or Conrad to see where " the party was for dinner" I had to tell her. Grampa and Gramma Moon came up immediately.
That next week is sort of a blank. Poor mom had to hold the family together and she must have been devastated but had to remain strong for us. On the way out of Church I had Kenny and Yvonne on either side of me so I could support them but I started to cry and mom had to come comfort me. She truly was an incredible woman and mother.

Roger and I went with her to the funeral home. I remember Eddie Wyse trying to sell us a bigger coffin" because Herb was a big man and would look better in that" I was astounded. I don't remember if we opted for the bigger one or not.

They were good parents for which I am thankful.

Jenna is in PHX

Jenna was invited to play on the Alaska Lady Hoops team to compete in tournaments around the country. ( She may only go to this one)She is in Phoenix this week-end and is going to get to visit with Kathleen and Brian and kids. She and the teams left Ak last night. I was so worried as she ( who is only 14) had to fly to Anchorage by herself and wait there for 6 hours for her flight out to PHX. She had to leave on a different airline than she arrived on so it was an issue of getting to the right airlines. Once there at 11PM she met up with the other members of her team. Jon called her at that time and said he felt like he could go to sleep. I have to admit I almost called her at 11:30 to make sure she was OK but I told myself it was not my job and I knew Jon would be taking care of things.

Anyway ,she has talked to Kathleen and will meet with her tomorrow.Kathleen and Brian will try to get to as many of her games as they can. ( There will be 4 games. )There are 160 teams , I think, from across the couuntry and college recruiters are there) She will have some free time so will have dinner at their house tomorrow night.

The web site for the AK lady hoops is.http://www.akladyhoops.com/ It has some info about the team, as well as a little bio for her. By the way she is not 5'11" I think she is more like 5' 8"..

She seems too young for such an adventure. The other team members are almost all from the Anchorage area. She said she is the only one from the "Vil" and was shy about meeting city girls.

Oceano, CA

Our quads and RV took us out again this weekend. This time to Pismo State Beach. We got stuck a couple of times in the deep sand. My fault of course the first time as I insisted upon driving us down the beach. We finally made it though and had a great time. We had to be towed out of our parking spot as we were stuck again. Only this time it took two four wheel drive vehicles to pull us out. We must have been a sight a truck hooked to a truck hooked to an RV pulling a trailer. YIKES. I don't think anyone got a picture of it. The picture is of Kylar and a friend of our's son. If you know Kathy Jasper from Superior the little one is her Grandson.

Oh a happy note also. Kylar went back to the doctor today. She firmly believes that the blisters on his legs is a result of a run in with either Poison Oak or Poison Ivy. She thinks he just had a worse reaction than most people do. That is a blessing. They are still waiting for the Valley Fever Test to come back but is not as concerned at this point.

Eric and I will be in Helena from Thursday through Saturday. Flying out Sunday morning. We hope we get to see some of you.

Have a blessed Easter!!! Happy Birthday Rick!!!

Kara

Happy Birthday to Rick!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Ricky Ticky Licky
Happy Birthday to you.

Eric's Son

Eric's son Kylar has a rash on his body and they are not sure what it is. We will know on Friday if it is a bad case of strep or not. They are also testing him for Valley Fever. The doctor seems to think that it is that rather than strep. We will know about the Valley Fever next week since it takes a week to get the test results back. Please pray that it isn't Valley Fever!

Jason Michael Moon - It's Official

Dustin went to court this morning to sign adoption papers. Jason is a special little boy and we are blessed that he is part of our family.
